2009 ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING
see notice on home page
In opening, I must thank Maitland Branch for hosting this year's AGM. Understanding the effort that goes into this event to make it work I am indebted to the workers at the branch and thank them sincerely for their time and dedication.
Our National Patron, Adrian Clunies‑Ross is a staunch supporter of our Association and passes on his best wishes to all branches and their executives. 1 le certainly got a kick out of the retelling of the story told to us all at the dedication of Lower Hunter Branch memorial involving himself and a horse. You may recall it yourselves.
I he National Branch is still in a sound financial position, as you will hear a little later. This enabled the committee to subsidize the purchase of our ten year medallions and aren*t they great. Advertising in The Combined Servicemen is the only reason we are in this situation and keeping the level of adverts up is essential. Increasing advertising is the main aim for next year and I invite you all to listen to both the treasurer and the editor a little later.
Another very pleasing thing that is happening is the getting together with the NSAA in activities that ALL NASHOS should be involved in. Me dedication and activities surrounding the National Service Memorial in Canberra proves we can all work together. The minutes sent to National Branch of a recent combined meeting where Owen and Fay Rowney were congratulated on the running of this year's reunion for all Nashos up this way made inspiring reading. Congratulations on a good job well done.
My standing final paragraph I will repeat. I trust that today’s meeting will be fruitful. harmonious with some humour and that we all go away feeling that the time spent together has been worthwhile and looking forward to the next twelve months with pride and enjoyment of what we all do in our Branches.

What a year it has been! Our branch at Hay held a very successful dedication of their memorial which will, when the Memorial High School is finally back to normal after the explosion, find its place in the grounds of that beautiful heritage school.
Lower Hunter branch had the dedication of their memorial too and it, as well as others, is in a very special place in Cessnock. As our National Patron conveyed in his message which I had the pleasure of reading on the day, ‘it is in grand company’.
Both these branches held very successful, friendly and well organised functions and they are a credit to our association.
The National Branch is now in a sound financial position due to the advertising concept that was adopted two years ago. Sadly though only four branches have got behind it and sold adverts. It would be great to have at least one add from each branch in each edition.
The executive take this opportunity to thank the Leeton branch for hosting this years AGM and I am certain we will have a very cordial and fruitful meeting with lots of catching up taking place and a lot of fun on both the Friday and Saturday evenings.
Maitland branch has, as we know, offered to host the 2009 AGM and we thank them for that.
See you at the ‘meet and greet’ on Friday 18th July in Leeton
Wal Beckhouse for the National Executive.
